Aesthetic Realism and Sojourner Truth

Dear Friends,
My article on Sojourner Truth has been posted on the website of Leila Rosen, educator, literary scholar and Aesthetic Realism Associate.  Sojourner Truth, Eli Siegel said, "should be known by everybody." She is inspiring and so current in relation to the racism that still pervades this country, and that Aesthetic Realism can end. So  please take a moment to read and tweet my article. And let me know what you think--please leave a comment below.

You can attend this exciting film class on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 6 pm

The Romantic Comedy; or, Love Has Obstacles • Wednesday, Nov 12, 6 PM

_Ken Kimmelman-fin-brighter-400
Ken Kimmelman, Emmy award-winning filmmaker and Aesthetic Realism consultant, says about this upcoming class in his course “If It Moves It Can Move You”: Opposites in the Cinema:
One of the most popular of film genres is the romantic comedy, in which two people delightfully overcome obstacles that seem insurmountable. While these films are lightsome, entertaining, and sometimes zany—at their best, they also have depth and meaning, and represent the victory of what Aesthetic Realism describes love as being: “proud need.”
Some of the films I’ll be discussing are: The Goodbye Girl; Bringing Up Baby; My Cousin Vinnie.  Call (212) 777-4490 to audit this class.

Aesthetic Realism & what we learned about Art & Life

We are a husband and wife, architect and poet, and this blog is about what we learned from Aesthetic Realism, the philosophy founded by Eli Siegel: that all the problems or questions of life are answered in art.  In love and marriage, as parents, at work, in every aspect of our lives we are trying to put opposites together, and, as Eli Siegel stated: "The resolution of conflict in self is like the making one of opposites in art."
